Everyone does. Just have to cough up $325 and wait 3 to 4 months.

No, they do not. As the above poster stated, you can pay to get one. I won't be spending the money on one.

I bought the signed dash plate about 6 months ago. It was $250 and they also throw in some kick plates that say Shelby GT500. He's not going to be around a whole lot longer. Isn't he about 112 years old now! Anyway I wanted his signature to put in mine and the all the proceeds go to his childrens foundation.

If you bought the car for collector appeal, I would get one for the fact that it could add to the car.

The brithday party was fun. The first production KR was given to Shelby by Ford for his birthday present.

A couple of our instructors got to work with his grand kids on track.

My wife is from Pawtucket. We'll be on Misquamicut beach for 2 weeks this August, rented a house on beach. I love it there. Debating to bring the car or not??

I was just reading this thread and the Dash Plaque is a must for the GT500...IMO.
Looks great on the dash and is excellent quality...
But it does take a long time to arrive...WTW...

By the way the plate comes with a cert. and Gt500 sill plates, many folks paint the center with their car color, a must have as i have one on mine. Check out Teamshelby.com

Nice beach i have not been there in years use to have a lot of drinking fun there, i think the beachsand an a gt 500 don"t go good together, however the long rides on rt 1 along the water is what u bought the car for. So the slution is to bring two cars just make shore one is a shelby gt 500 :guns: Where are u locatated now?? :confused:

I ordered my dash plague last May 07 and it took about 4 months to get from Shelby, with the order you have to send the VIN of the GT500, and is ingraved in the plaque so it is for one GT 500 not able to be used on any car they say. The plague is different than what come on the Shelby GT. My plaque was $299.00.

Most are using Krylon 1309... it's the Matte Finish UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating. Put on 2 or 3 very very thin coats at first, then a little heavier. Make sure you wait 10 minutes between coats. I saw one that put it on too heavy and the signature ran. Good luck

Finally got it. Ordered Dec 17 rec'd March 13th. Worth the Wait.

After waiting 20 years I finally bought my GT500 the day I went to work (Brazil) for 28 days. I drove it from the dealer and into the garage. Not even enough miles on it for the CPU to allow the SC to kick in. :(

There are two ways to get the dash plaque, 1) Through his childrens foundation $250 & 2) Through his company $324. I am not sure which is faster. I ordered mine last week through his company. As far as protecting the signature, I think an airbrush will work much better than a spray can of Krylon. The mist is much more under control and finer/lighter. It may take more coats and cost you more money, but hey, my baby is worth it!

As far as justifying the money for the plaque, if it is only available for the Shelby cars, it should be thought of as an investment. Even if you are using the car as an everyday driver, as I will be. I think in 10-20 years, the plaque/w certificate & Ford Certificate, the car will be worth more than one that has no plaque. We are all getting older and Shelby is no spring chicken.

So far I have only installed the sequential turn signals. My next mod will be Corbeau CR1 seats (Black/Grey) with 5 point belts. (The belts are for show and track time.) Does anybody know if it is possible to mount the harness and still keep the factory belts for everyday use? And if it is possible to jumpout or defeat the seatbelt reminder?

One more thing, what is the take on the oil? Do we have to use Motorcraft Full-synthetic 5w50 or can it be any brand 5w50 full synthetic? I have seen places saying that it is a warranty issue if you do not use Motorcraft oil.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that when I bought my GT500, there was also a Shelby GT there with the dash plaque. From what I remember, it is exactly the same thing as the one you buy. It has Shelby's signature and the vehical's VIN. But, the dealer is charging a bit more than $324. ;)

What do you get from Ford SVT when you send them $40.00 and your VIN number, is that just the build info, or do you get a plaque like the one offered on Shelby's web site.

I was was just emailed that my plaque is on it's way! Ordered in June and should be receiving it August 1st or 2nd. Maybe Carroll had fewer commitments. If I am 42, why do I feel like a kid at Christmas? hahaha

I do not think you get a plaque, only a certificate from Ford with Carroll Shelby's signature and the build information.
