My opinion is no. I have not followed the Term market lately. I don't know how good the trade in price is. The selling price, however, is too high. Search ebay and the For Sale sections of several boards including teamshelby.com. Many are reporting MSRP deals. They may not be in RI, but, $5000 buys you a plane ticket to go pick it up and leaves plenty left over for a few goodies for the car. And you would get to enjoy the trip home. Shoot, you might even find a local board member to go inspect a car for you. I live near Indy. If you find one here (and I have seen recent reports of MSRP here), I'd go scope it out for you.
That is just my opinion. I am anti-ADM. I think they should never be charged and especially not paid. However, if it is your dream car and you don't mind paying the extra, go for it. I have seen worse than 5 over deals as well.

I think you should keep the 04, especially if it's paid for, and buy the Shelby. I do agree that you should look for a better deal than 10k over sticker. There is a no reserve auction on ebay right now with 47 minutes left on a 2008 gt500 from dealer. It's at 44k now.

thanks for the feed back i did buy the car, i feel i got the best deal i could get right now. I was talking to the SVT mechanic @ tasca ford dealership he said that they would not sell any gt500 for less than 15000.00 over sticker, they just have to many people on the list waiting to buy. Well now i join the shelby boys with one of the best & strongest built cobras to date.
p/s I would never buy a car on line, i have to see it ,drive it , touch it.

Congrats on the purchase of a fine automobile. I was hoping that my opinion would not stop you from doing what you really wanted to do. It was strictly an opinion.
I did not own a Term to compare it to, but, I was awestruck at how powerful and smooth the car is. with you going from a Term, the difference may not be as obvious as it was to me (my last Mustang was a 93 GT 5.0).

Congrats on a fine machine. I love mine. I Feel like a kid in a candy store every time I get in it. What color is it? I don't blame you. I wouldn't buy a car sight unseen either. It sure was a good buy for someone though. I think it sold for $44870. That's right at MSRP.

Have fun it's a great car. I bought my GT500 sight unseen from a ford dealer in Mi, I'm in NY. Could not have gone any smoother they were great. Salesman still sends me updates and accessories catalogs.

At this point my only mods are Corsa axle back exhaust and Steeda tri-ax with Hurst stick and classic white cue-ball shifter.
The most popular mods are the JLT CAI, tune, axlebacks, pulley, UCA and LCA. Most are getting about 540 RWHP with the pulley, CAI and tune. Wheel hop is pretty severe if you are a tire spinner. I don't do many burnouts so it has not been a problem for me unless it is cold out. When the temp drops so does your traction. I goosed it yesterday and about broke my teeth with the bone shattering wheel hop.
Really, this car is pretty good right out of the box.

Well we all like to spin the tires every now an then, there must be some way of getting rid of the hop new rear tires work for the 04 cobra and a lot of power to. Has anyone tried the JBA exhust cat back how do they sound?? how about the WATTS rear suspention anyone install that?? tasca is installing a supersnake package who has that and how do u like it??? 30 grand from tasca!!

I had not noticed the wheel hop with my occasional spin in warm weather.
LCA/UCA replacement appears to be the fix.
I have not heard the JBA. The Corsa is just right for me. Plenty of attitude without being too loud and NO drone.
I don't know much about the Watts. Someone on TeamShelby put it on and raved about it.
30 grand, no thanks.

I agree... Car is very good right out of the box... IMO, I wouldn't change the pulley just for warranty purposes, but the rest I would. Since you now have a Shelby GT500 have you looked at their new catalog of goodies for Spring 2008... Very Trick Stuff is coming, check it out there before you buy... Sometimes it's better to wait, I am...

I think it's after 50 starts and stops or 5 consecutive miles your boost will kick in. Your manual has the info. I think it's to try and stop dealerships from test driving the hell out of your car before you buy it.

well it must work i only had 30 miles on the car when i test drove it. did some research @ tasca ford today looks like i will be buying a bassani exhaust 3", jlt intake filter, 2.6 pully, I"ll reinstall my SCT tune, hopefully it will make 540 @ the wheel. later i"ll install ford 373 gears ,a watts suspention ,Lca ,one piece driveshaft, put M/T et steets on & take it to the track. :guns:

Sounds like a monster in the making.
You will likely be right at 540 with that setup. Enjoy it. Be sure to show us the dyno graph. I have not put mine on one yet. I plan to do that this spring to get a baseline. I haven't decided whether to do any more mods yet. Knowing that much more easy power is just a few bolt ons and a tune away makes it hard not to.

Yer just trying to put miles on it so that computer gives all the power out. will get the base line on the dyno & then start with the mods. I hope i can get the dyno graff on the sight i am not to good with the hightech stuff  What mods do you have fivepointfour??

So far, just Corsa axle backs and steeda triax shifter that is made to look like a Hurst shifter. Hurst doesn't make one, so I made my own.
I have the JLT CAI sitting in my garage. A friend had it on his GT500 for about 9 months. He decided to get a Kenne Bell. The JLT won't work with the KB. So, he just gave it to me. Thanks Buddy! This car is so good stock (aside from being quiet) that I'm not positive I want to mod it yet. I'm sure that CAI will be staring me in the face all Summer until I finally put it on. I live about an hour and a half from Brenspeed. I'll likely go there and get a baseline this Summer. I may just go ahead and put the JLT on then and have them custom tune it. IF you put a CAI on, you must re-tune.
I don't plan to pulley at least for now. I like the sound of the V8. When I drove a pullied one, I could hardly hear the engine because the whine was so loud. We'll see how that goes once I experience the difference from stock to CAI/tune. I'm sure It'll convince me to pulley as well.
I'd say addressing the mufflers is a must. The Corsa axle back sounds incredible. I always thought it sounded good from inside the car. A while back, my brother took off down the road in mine. I couldn't believe how good it sounded from outside the car. There is zero drone with them either.

sounds good i"m still checking things out i might go with a set of spintech axel back muflers waiting for a price.
IF you put a CAI on, you must re-tune.
This is the 2nd time I heard this why is that?
The first was when my cousin put a CAI on his 05 G.T. and the shop said a re-tune is a must or the car will not run right.
I put one on my 03 Cobra (a Densecharger 3 years ago) with no re-tune and it runs great. I did my first dyno last fall and she is putting down 390 RWHP and 361 torque and I have 30K on her now.
A pulley, tune and SCT is coming this spring. :D

With the 03 cobras you dont have to retune unless you get a smaller pulley.
With the new stangs starting in 05, if you put an aftermarket air intake on and do not get a tune, your motor will run very lean and not last long.

I don't know enough about it to explain properly, but, if you don't re-tune, your car will run lean and the new software does not like it. From what I understand, it then detunes the car to compensate for the lean condition.

I thought the computer would adjust like on ours.
Makes sense to me now. Thanks.
