HID headlights are a factory option on the 2008 GT500. Does anyone know whether they can be retrofitted to the 2007?

I'm only interested in a factory kit here - not an aftermarket one. Want to preserve the factory design, and of course the Ford warranty. Hence I would have the Ford parts installed by a Ford dealership.

What are HID lights? Are they the very bright blue or purple looking lights?

Yes, see here (http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-HID-Lighting-from-StangMods-com-s/253.htm) for some info and the best aftermarket kits I've found so far. I understand that the HID headlight unit from Ford is somewhere around $500 per light, but haven't discussed this with a dealership yet. I would like to make the switch, just want to be very careful about not irritating the car's electrical system.

Factory HID usually have a self-leveling system, and that appears to be important because of their brightness. Haven't looked into that yet where these aftermarkets are concerned - or the Ford kit, for that matter.

The end of my research was that this kit (http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-Bi-Xenon-HID-Kit-for-Shelby-GT500-p/00766-sgt500.htm) from Stangmods is the best. Simple & easy to install, no harm to or compromise of the car's original electrical system, and both regular & high-beam HIDs. I recommend the 4300K color (all white), as it is the best for human vision enhancement. I have installed this kit on my GT500 and am very pleased with it - would never go back to the old, dim halogen bulbs.

The color is dependent on the bulb. The stock HIDs in my 2008 GT500 are white. I put ones with a blue hue in my 2006 vista blue GT.
