I figure this is a concept which relates as much to next generation Stang as the Mach III did to the SN95. I must say it is starting to grow on me, it strongly reminds me of a 68 Shelby which is my favorite styled Mustang of all. Time will tell.

totally uninspiring...
looks like a mercedes from the side, a tbird from the front and a lincoln from the rear...
rather truckish look with the hood up.
looks like one of those designs they ****canned in the 60s being dredged up for lack of anything original.
:wtf:

I think it looks alright, but I'm really hoping they will impress with some long overdue technical advancements and ergonomics. My first observation is that the Boost gauge in in a positively idiotic location. If you're pushing the car and creating boost, you need to be looking out the windshield, not at the shifter. IMHO

Sorry Snakeman69, but I have to tell you that I think it's perfect.
I was 8 in 1964 when a family friend brought over a new Mustang Convertable, (although it was that stupid orange and white combo) and I'm telling you that 05 gives me all the best years past in one tight little package. Did you see the photos with added spoilers and stuff? It's as awsome as a 69 could ever have been.
My 03 has more heritage than I ever expected and I didn't even know it before I bought it, my brother had to show me. If that 05 ends up that way, I'm sorry...it's perfect. The boost gage should be moved, I agree with Elapidae on that one.
Just my 2 cents.

I can't make up my mind on this one. I really didn't like the 94 stang when it came out, but it grew on me (although, I did like the 99 restyle as soon as it came out). We'll see what the real deal looks like, but for know I do like my car styling better (good for me, eh?).

I think the fastback is a work of art and I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Look at what they call a "New GTO" over at GM. Talk about FUGLY!! Now imagine a "retro" '64 Goat! Now THAT would be something!!!
These new retro 'stangs will prove to be a huge success.

I'll take the fastback in that silver color.:D
Don't care much for the vert. Hmm 4.6 spray bored
to 5.0, with DOHC heads and SC. By the time they build
it a GT could be as much as my 03 Cobra. :cbra:
Anyone know if a poster of the above pic is available
anywhere?

Yes, they will. I'll have to wait until they produce a Cobra version, though. Won't give up my '03 for anything less. :)

A friend of mine just returned from the Detroit Auto Show. In his opinion, pictures don't do this car justice, he says it is a real beauty. :bna

If ever there were 2 pictures that could close a sale, these would be it!
Having restored a '66 for a charity raffle this past summer, the "wheels were turning" to go drop a new drivetrain in an older shell to get a "new classic" ride. No point now!
That this will actually be available to us is positively brilliant. There will be a line at the door.
What info exists on the new platform? Does anyone know the anticipated weight? Have they managed to squeak the CG a bit aft? How does the stiffness compare? Anything?
