:( We had some rain this week and I found water in my passenger floor....carpet is soaked. Can see a trail of water coming from the firewall where some of the HVAC stuff attaches.

This is especially frustrating since my '00 Focus sedan had the same problem.....was at the dealer three times to get it corrected. Dealer advised then the water leak was pretty common on the '00 Foci. You would think that Ford would have corrected it.

I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS PROBLEM IN MY CAR YET BUT MY GIRLFRIEND HAS A 2001 SEDAN THAT LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS. THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX IT 4 TIMES BUT IT STILL LEAKS. :wtf:

you are not the first to report about the water leak problem, though I am surprised to see how many SVTs i've heard of leaking. Have them fix it, keep all your paperwork and if it can't be fixed in three tries it will probably qualify as lemon

It is my understanding of the Va. Lemon Law that the problem must be something related to engine function, safety, that sort of thing. I don't believe a water leak would be considered more than a nuisance problem. My dealer uses an outside contractor called 'Water Doctor' to address leaks. This guy worked on my '00 Focus X 2, eventually said it was the AC (the dealer replaced all the under-dash AC stuff) but the car still leaked. Water Doctor returned and finally fixed it.

sucks to be in virginia I guess. Out here the laws are a lot less specific. Basically if something cannot be fixed within the first 3 tries then you are offered a replacement.

Inteller....I checked the VA. Lemon Law on the net....it says to qualify a problem must significantly affect the use, market value or safety of a vehicle.

I certainly hope the leak can be fixed and I continue to enjoy my new car. However, I must say Ford's quality control is in question when they haven't addressed a problem with the Focus since they hit the market in late '99. There are a number of folks on Focaljet.com noting the same water leak.

I had a cheap, ****py Plymouth in the late 70's that leaked everywhere....windshield, trunk, doors. I realize this SVT is the Focus econobox on steroids, but you would think automotive engineering would have come to a point where you could build a car that remains water tight in the rain.

well, if ends up mildewing the car, that will signifigantly impact the value of the car. and you are right, cars have been made for a century now and they can make them that don't leak.
