Check out this, although its still in the middle, at least you don't have to make/use the holes in the bumper.

When I lived in Illinois, we needed a front plate, for years I used this bracket on my Cobras, ... it does the job.

Horsepower By Hermann also makes a high quality bracket.

Man I'm really glad Michigan does not require a front plate.
I could not stand it if I had to put one on my car.

This is now on the front of my 07 Roush Stage 3. You are just pushing your luck in Illinois by not having a front plate. You get caught maybe say, doing a burn out, it is just another item to write you up for..
I hate the front plate but as Judge Dread said, It's Da LAW!

Here is one solution to your problem...I saw one similar to this on a rod at a car show, except he had motor on it and when the car left Park, it would extend, then when in park, it would tuck away....pretty cool...
Tuck Away Front Plate for GT500 (http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Show-n-Go-License-Plate-holder-400U;jsessionid=0a0004471f4324fd2b751e854c2fa17df77d40df1708.e3iKaNePch4Re34Pa38Ta38SbN10?sc=1&category=-101)
Now thats cool!
The only thing it needs is to be motorized.

On my '01 Cobra, I clipped it under the front bumper also. It's not quite as goofy-looking as being on the bumper.

I have owned both a 2005 and 2006 mustang GT with no front plates and never been pulled over. In fact at a car show in Austin, TX. the asst. chief of police(APD)looked right at my car asked a few performance questions, and said that is an awsome car! Never even mentioned that that I don't have front plates. However, my father recently got pulled over by the Texas Highway Patrol while driving the speed limit down a tollroad in his 2006 Roush. He was given only a warning for the no front plate offense, but swears he will never drill into the front bumper, and neither will I !!!!!!!

Any engineers out there? Seems to me that there'd be money to have if they designed and marketed a motorized bracket that would display the plate at the flip of a switch. Can you imagine how many law enforcement officers that would screw with? I can hear it now:
"I'd would've sworn you didn't have a front plate! Sorry, sir. Have a good day."

Picking up a GT500 this PM. I live in Illinois and hang with a State Trooper. I use a front plate. :bash:
I talked to Ken at this place. He owns a GT 500. I ordered one. I have a different type on my 07 Stage 3 and it does not look as sturdy.
Thanks
