Hi all.
My name is Brad and I'm new to the Cobra world, not the Mustang world.
I recently bought a '93 and am thrilled with the car.
Here's the thing, the car has Ford Mustang mud flaps. No kidding. I've never seen another with these. Are these babies rare or can you get them somewhere?
Also, like many others, I need a line on wheels... I'm scared to damage mine. Anyone know?
Please and thank you!
Brad

Most likely sold as an accessory through the dealer, and installed by either the dealer or previous owner.

Thanks for the info. Going to go to Ford to see if I can get any of these still. I think they look totally retro cool. lol

Sure, as soon as I can. Maybe you can tell me if they are from K-mart or somewhere... ;)

Okay, got a pic of the mud flaps.
Are these rare Ford or cheap Chinese Walmart? (And DON'T say both! lol)

Hey Brad
Hard to tell. I remember seeing one's like this at the dealer in the parts area. Might be worth seeing if your local dealer has an old accessories catalog. But my gut says these are probably just some aftermarket Mustang flaps.
So, forget the flaps, tell me about your Vibrant Red 93 Cobra.

Sure... it's a standard Cobra for the most part. I just got it a few weeks ago - still hasn't passed inspection but it's going to hibernate in a few days so I'll worry about that in the spring.
I've owned a few 5.0s so I'm familiar with the cars. There are a few things I'm not sure about it though, as you might have seen from my posts.
The previous owner put in a shifter, new radio, under the hood air filter, and a few other little things. It's a fast car and would rip my very low mileage stock GT 5-spd a new one. It's pretty loud too, which is okay as it's a Sunday driver now.
One weird thing, there are two red lights (not connected) under the rad, pointing up to the block. I have no idea what they are for. I was told in the 50s guys used to do this for the effect to oncoming cars, but I have no idea. It's really weird.
The wheels concern me greatly too since you can't get them anymore. I have no idea what to run - any help there is appreciated. Do you guys think going to a 5 lug is considering butchering these cars? Is it expensive? Is it hard to change them back?
Past that, I love this car. I don't think anyone on the street has any clue about it, but next summer we'll see. It just needs a good tune-up, some new tires and it's ready to go. Maybe also replacing some of the black 'chrome' on it... it was a Florida car and a lot of that is pretty faded. It's probably expensive to do but it's worth it considering the paint is nice.
And how about yours....??

Here's mine. http://www.t5design.com/Images/0708calendar/2007-2008Calendar38.jpg
Mine has all your typical upgrades. 13" brakes (4 lug to maintain my stock wheels, fronts only) all the normal braces, gears, exhaust, etc. I used to open track it a lot but these days, it rarely comes out of the garage.
Moving to a 5 lug isn't butchering your car. Do as you feel comfortable with on your car. Some may have things to say regarding changes, but if you look around, many 93 Cobra's have been personalized. If you do go the 5 lug route, what wheels will you run? Plus, you might want to keep the 4 lug set up so you can return it to stock, if you want. If not, there's a good number of people out there looking for real 93 Cobra rims. Especially if they're in good shape.
Interesting about the lights. ANything is possible from the 50's. Might be worth hooking them up and taking a photo or 2.
Are you having trouble passing inspection or just haven't bothered since the season's over?

Hey that looks like my car. lol
Yeah, gotta get the subs into it, etc. So much to do. Took it out tonite (no, it hasn't passed the safety yet - parking brake cable broken) anyway. What a car.
Yip, the season is over. I think she's parked until May. Snow bites. Of course, my Bronco loves it.
And sure, I'll try to get those lights working and take a pic. Someone put them in... hopefully before it gets too cold - which, of course, could be tomorrow so no promises. :)
