Hey guys I spent the day yesterday in Gainesville at my first autocross. I didn't compete, but I took some shaky-cam footage riding shotgun with my friend in his mostly stock '01 GT (CAI/catback and some chassis stiffening). His runs weren't stellar but it was really fun and I hope to take the Cobra out at the next event. My other friend actually took 2nd in his class with a 60.4**" in his '95 GT with just a CAI/headers/midpipe, lowered suspension, and subframes. 1st place in that class was a modded Camaro by 3 whole seconds. Fastest time all day was a mid to high 52" by a race prepped MR2 and close behind by a few tenths was a C5 Z06.
I love a good drag race, but throwing some turns into the mix is great fun!

Yes Great little course - SVTOA central Florida run out there too as well. keep your eyes posted for the next time there out there. Not heard of MSCC - WHO are they? I may go out with them sometime.
Drag racing is fun but I think you get the notion that the Auto X a fun too and a little more dramatic and gets the blood moving too.

I'll warn you, this stuff is addicting. I started over 23 years ago, after 7 years of falling off motorcycles racing AMA.
1st you start with autoX, then you move to Time Trials and then that gets you craving the hard stuff. Roadracing. All fun!

Yeah I've always been somewhat more interested in the twisties than drag racing and have been dying to try it out. I love drag racing too, don't get me wrong. It's nice to finally have a vehicle to do this stuff with as my last one wasn't very conducive to racing (old F-150).
