The Boston chapter has an autox at Devens on that Saturday. I will have someone trained to share the event chair position in 2008 though. This should give me a little more flexibility to do away events..

Just a quick review of the event....but, before I do that, a HUGE "Thank you" needs to go out to Dell Hughes, who served as the event chairman and organizer for this event. Without Dell's forsight, this event simply wouldn't have happened.

I hereby nominate Dell Hughes for SVTOA Workhorse of the Year!

Consider this: Dell planned and hosted the first SVTOA On Track event of the year, the March 31/April 1 event at Texas World Speedway. But even before that event was held, he was hard at work on the SVTOA Experience III that was being planned for July at Miller. And, before THAT event was held, he had secured the Sept 15/16 dates at Hallett. Bottom line: Dell has served as event chairman for THREE On Track events, with each events' planning cycle overlapping the other. AWESOME! Thank you Dell...and I know the members and instructors that attended your events thank you, too.

OK, about the event: Hallett is a twisting turning, climing and diving "old school" facility...a true "driver's track" and honestly, of all the tracks I've driven, it's probably my favorite from behind the wheel. As an instructor, it's a very challenging track to drive...blind crests, blind apexes, hyper late turn-ins and yes, even a few places where your students CAN mess up. Bottom line: a great track to drive in BOTH directions. Yes, Hallett can be driven both directions...and that's what we did!

If you've never been there, here is a link to the track's web site: http://www.hallettracing.net . Go to the Photo Gallery link on the left and find the SVTOA event images to see the cool collection of cars we had in attendance. We had one of the last Parnelli Jones Saleens but and not just one, but TWO Gulf Blue Heritage Edition Ford GTs screaming around the track. And, here is a link to a forum post by Steve, one of the GT drivers; http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7556 Thanks for the kind review Steve!

Over the course of the two days, we had a couple of minor incidents; but the bottom line: no one was injured.

I want to thank all the students and participants - everyone played by the rules, drove within the spirit of the event and played nice with each other on the challenging Hallett course - both directions!

And of course, again, we simply could NOT have done this event without our in-car instructors. For the Hallett event, our hard-working instructor crew consisted of;
Mark Bettin - TX
Jonathan Blevins - OK
David Cook - IL
John George - TX
Brock Ivers - OK
Chris Lyons - TX
Buck Morris - OK
Clay Pearce - OK
Mitchell Pinnix - CA
Bud Sharp - TX
Michael Vanzandt - IL

Thanks again guys, your students and I appreciate your dedication and willingness to share your knowledge with others.

Also, a special call-out to Peter Hughes for his tech support willingness to help out anyone with a mechanical problem and to 5.0/Late Model Restoration and United Ford for their sponsorship of the event.

Oh yeah...and the weather was SPECTACULAR!

See you on track! :bna

Had a blast at this event. Hallett is always fun. This time the weather was fantastic, plus we got to run both directions!

Thank you Dell for such a good event!

Your very welcome, Jeff. Anytime!
