I have owned Fords all my life, 3 were Mustangs, a 67 6 cyl. coupe, an 88 Gt and an 04 Mach 1. My 07 GT 500 is by far the best Mustang I have ever driven. For me, this is the best car I have ever owned. I will NEVER part with it.

I have a 2001 Cobra, 2006 GT and a 2007 Shelby GT500. I know that some people do not like the additional weight of the car; however, I use mine on the road and I am absolutely delighted with the weight over my GT. Its quick and responsive, but for the road, I don't think I would want anything else. I also am getting only 1-2 mpg less than with my GT on the road. And for the weight and heft of the car, I for one am not unhappy about my 22-24 mpg. hywy mileage.

I like it allot even though I do not own one. I have owed all years except 93,93R, 95R, and the 2000R. I would love to add the GT 500 by SVT to the list. But I will only pay MSRP or less.

I really considered selling my 03. The 03 has allot of history is will be hard to part with. So.. I will keep the 03 Cobra for foreseeable future.

A BOSS by SVT would be nice as well. I would actually preffer as it would most liklet have a N/A 5.0 and be lighter. But there is want for the Shelby as well.

My 07 GT 500 is my 5th mustang and by far the best. You can go away for more than a day in it and have room your clothes. My wife and I drove ours form Dallas to Phoenix 17 hrs and she said she would do it again. 22 to 25 mpg hiway listing to CNBC or your ipod and then at the trick you can have fun with the big dogs.

I Have Owned My Gt 500 Since July 2006/ It Is By Far The Best Mustang I Have Owned. There Are A Few Things That Ford Could Have Done, Decals For Strips And Touches On The Inside. No Doubt I Have Been Happy Since The Day I Ordered The Car, April Of 2006, And Could Not Be Happier Since The Day I Went To The Transport Location To Pick It Up To Put The First Miles On It Beyond The 2.5 MILES It ALREADY Had On It. It Is Like Another Child To Me. Marvin

Well RevMatt are you going to make the jump to a GT500?
 Well, I did it. I have purchased my first Chevy and am selling my Cobra. The dealers I have spoken with were just too unreasonable about the price and options on the GT500. Ford's going support for the homosexual agenda was also a deciding factor. I hope Ford is listening up! :spank:

Good for you RevMatt! :tmb: I believe you made a wise purchase. I just returned from a car cruise this Labor Day weekend and saw my first Shelby GT500 lined up with other cars. I was the only one looking at it (for the longest time) and it did not stand out among the others, for example, Roadrunners, GTOs, Mach 1's, Boss Mustangs, etc.

GT500 owners, don't get me wrong, your car is beautiful and powerful; however, it's just costs too much -- sorry. The Corvette is way above.

Funny, I've been having these same thoughts.

A local dealer has had a GT500, sitting out in the rain, for months, but will not budge on price. He also has a few Shelby GT Mustangs, sitting, but wants too much.

I'm now giving very serious thought to a Corvette.

This last Labor day weekend I made a road trip with my Black w/tungstun stripe Shelby GT-500, solo. I attended a 1/4 mile drag race track and did test and tune all night. I ran a best of 11.73 @ 119.04 mph / ran a 1.84 60 ft. I have about everything you can buy for suspension upgrades and have played with all the settings. Then I drove all night and went to an 1/8 mile track. I ran a 7.55 @ 95.84 and a 1.83 60 ft. I spent the weekend in my Shelby (evan slept in it at times) This is one Labor day I will remember for a long time. Road trip plus Drag racing it does not get any better! On the road I met over 15 patrolmen, but I had the cruise set and had my need for speed full filled at the tracks!! I have owned many mustangs, lightnings and other F :) ord products, this is the absolute best unit I have ever driven and raced.

Just got my 08, solid car, not enough miles on it to really jump on it but I can feel the power. Funny on the nobody looking at it. I'm afraid there is going to be an accident for all the gawking!

I bought an 08 gt500 this past feb 08, to this date I"v owned a 67 coup, 92 gt vert, 99 6cyl, 04 svt cobra, and i got to say that this gt500 is the most comfable & roomy mustang i have ever owned. I am 6' tall 265lbs an driving this car is really fun. Now the car is a little heaver than the 03-04s but i like the fact that the car is longer it is a way better ride than all the other cars i have driven. the power u get out weights the weight. I have not did anything to the suspention yet but i just got it tune up with a 2.6 pully my SCT tuner from the 04 cobra, JLT intake & spin tech exhaust, dyno @ base 423.8 hp 443 tq, after up grades 511.6 hp 520 tq these numbers are before the spintech mufflers were on the car, the car is a little fat right now waiting to get back on the dyno with the mufflers on hoping for 525 hp. Great car glad i bought it. :)

I bought an '08 GT500 coupe in vista blue on 3/6/8. I paid $2k UNDER MSRP. I too plan on driving it until I can't get gas anymore!

I also am the proud owner of a 2008 GT-500. Quite frankly the most fun I have ever had in a street car. To bad gas will be $8.00 a gallon soon and I will only be able to afford to drive it around the block. LOL

I know of 3 fellow Ford retirees who've bought Corvettes due to Ford dealers gouging the price of GT500's. I'm glad I waited 2 yrs and found one at sticker! That's the first car I've paid sticker for in my 62 yr life and I've had 17 prior Mustangs as well as other assorted "lesser" Fords. Well, ok, except HOT WHEELS!!

I bought a GT-500 and right off the bat i had it built to the max by Team Ford in Ga. I had all the Steeda suspension upgrades and coil over springs added, then went to the 2.65 inch pully, then a 1 gallon intercooler res was added with a larger dual pass heat exchanger, with a JLT cold air intake with a whipple 160 mm mono blade TB, then KOOKs headers with sport cats x pipe and ford racing muflers, upgraded the brakes and discs, added short throw Tri-ax shifter, Sct tune and then a track Dyno tune, and a DSSR aluminum drive shaft.
This car reay flys now

Before this i used to have a 69 427 corvette and this GT-500 would blow my old cars doors off now.

well so far my new GT500 08 seems pretty nice, but my 03 cobra handle so much better than the new shelby. the cobra with the mods was faster too. but i think in the long run after some suspension work and modding the car will be where i want it to be. one thing that i dont like is the crappy 331 gears, these should of came with at least 3:55 or better yet 3:73 like the KR. if i didnt get a really good deal on the car i would of stayed with the 03 cobra.

I don't own one... But... I got a chance to make a 1/4 mile pass in a WISVTOA member's GT500 yesterday. I am blown away by how how fast you can make these cars. The one I drove yesterday ran 10.70's at over 132 MPH (best I could do was a 11.61@129)
And a good friend of mine, Paul Svinicki of Paul's High Performance in Jackson, Michigan built one and won his class at the 2008 Hotrod Drag Week event. Paul drove his over 1100 miles in a few days and ran a 9.98@137!!! Amazing.

Absolutely am in love with my 2008 gt500 and feel much younger now, even though I'm 63. I even went to the strip and made 7 passes. Completely stock and did not power shift, turned 13.40. Could not get hooked up.

Been out of the picture and decided to rebound, so talked to the wife and we ordered a new 2008 GT500 convertible. We both were hooked instantly, felt the handling not the best and so it needed a few upgrades. Sent the car to Las Vegas and SuperSnaked it.
Now she handles very quickly and with fantastic road capabilities. Wanted to keep the Shelby a Shelby from Shelby. Would do it again with a coupe if had the resources. These cars simply out perform and with upgrades can be a serious threat. Check out different vendors as they are all great. New designs come out all the time and make this car proud. See you at the gatherings as we love to drive our baby and make her day.
Randal.

I got tired of waiting for a Camaro and decided to support the only American car company that didn't go looking for a handout. As for me, I paid $39,995....... 7k under the sticker for a car that I completely fell in love with on the way home from the dealership. From personal experience with both the FFW and NMRA, I can say Ford is there for the racers in a way that Mopar and Chevy are not. I am happy to finally be part of the SVT family.

Got my GT500 in white w/blue stripes. Like the original. A little disappointed in the handling and stance. My 05 GT with FRPP suspension handles better. So the first major upgrade will be the FRPP GT500 suspension package. The car is wicked fast and stands out in a crowd. Start button and billet temp controls knobs added and having the Nav system upgrade to SYNC. Silverhorse Racing 1/4 louvers on order (a great retro addition and functional). Thanks FORD, SVT AND SHELBY.

I bought my gt500 last October, traded my 04 conv.Cobra for it and I couldn't be happier. I keep it in a storage shed and only have 3700 miles on it. Want to keep low mileage on it. The way the country is a going it will only be "Smart Cars" on the road and no more mustangs....lol

The price is well worth it for the amount of car you are now getting! The 2010 GT 500 model has many KR features from last years line for very little increase in the price! It also has no or very low dealer mark-ups! Now is the time to buy while the cars are still available. Remember that the production is still limited and future models may not be developed. This is my 4th Mustang and it is by far the best yet! Be sure to look into the electronics package as well.
