I came home from a trip out of town and went to the garage to check on my baby and take a quick cruise and discovered i have a hard shifting problem with the 6 speed trans. turns out my 19 year old son took a couple of short cruises with it but he swears he babied it,the car has about 900 miles on it and we have been fairly gentle with her.
The clutch is self adjusting so does anybody have any ideas?
Is there any difference between when it's cold or warm?
Mine when it's cold is slightly hard (has done it from day 1 and the dealer could not find anything wrong) and smooth when it warms up.
I read somewhere on the board here that changing the fluid to what G.M uses makes a big difference. I have not made the change yet.

Sounds like a little more serious "interrogation" needs to happen with the 19 year old. You really let him take your Shelby out without being in the car?

There have been a few issues with the clutches and transmissions in these cars. Search stangsunleashed.com. A few have had to have their trannies replaced.

What fivepoint says is correct. many have experienced the shifting issue, attributed to many things such as coldness, oil, bad sincro's(mainly 2nd gear), etc. When i start, it's not as smooth as after i've driven a while. So i ease into the gears until the oil has circulated well. After i get on it, gears are as smooth as silk.

The 19 year old son hard shifting later issue... :hbomb:
Check owners manual for clutch adjustment procedure.. use it and if that doesn't fix it take it to dealer... warranty vs 19 year old.. :bash:

think about it a young boy in a 500 h.p. car he did alittle more than babied it, i have a 16 year old and if he even thought about driving it i would hurt him especially after he totaled his 2006 v6 mustang by putting it through a brick wall, but he swears on his life he was doing less than 15 mph
