Anyone heard of twin supercharged L' in the works for 04?And maybe a Boss 302 'stang.Just wondering . I read it one of those Ford mags.:huh:

I heard about a BOSS Mustang. I don't know about a 302 though. Probably a 5.0L BOSS.

As for a twin supercharged Lightning, I really doubt it. Too much to go wrong for adequate warranty servicing. It would use way too much fuel too and the computer programming needed to map the fuel/air mixture and timing would be a real headache. Probably turn the Lightning into a $50K rich man's toy like that new Ram that is supposed to be coming out.

That wouldn't be nay-saying, that would be denial.

But still, I don't think I have seen anything "twin-supercharged" outside of an airplane engine. There is just too much to go wrong. The warranty claims would put SVT out of business. Maybe a twin-turbo system with two medium sized turbos but not twin superchargers. The packaging would be a nightmare. I just can't see it in a production based vehicle. Aftermarket by some loony owner yes, I'm surprised I haven't seen it done yet.

What would be more likely is a DOHC 5.4L or a larger displacement SOHC. Maybe even a V10.

I heard about this just a little different. It was a twin screw S/C. But it was for the 05 as they were talking about not having a 04 so the R&D guys could start fitting things to the new 04 F-150. that is what I understand. Woody

I too read in one of my Mag's that the 05' is rumored to be a TWIN SUPERCHARGED......500hp truck. I don't know if I believe it or not though.

Anyway I also read in MMFF that they (straight from the guy who led the Mach 1 program) are indeed kicking around the idea of a Mustang under the Boss nameplate again, they just want to make sure that they do it up right. They don't want to put a tag on something and call it BOSS and have the critics tear it apart. Like us L guys do about the so called Boss 5.4 F-150's.....GODDY!!

According to my calculator 5.0 is a 302.I have seen several pics of single blower V-10 with SVT stamped on it. I've seen some twin blowers on hot rods.As long as The Oval kicks the general and the nokars a.. it will be a good thing.Right Martha?:D

There was one magazine who had in error reported that it was going to be a twin supercharged motot. From what I understand it was a typo. What they meant was twin screw. I have also read this debate on many other Lightning forums and they to say it may be twin screw for the next gen L but a twin supercharged setup is very very very very unlikley i.e. not going to happen ;)

Twin screw is often mistaken for twin supercharging but the twin screw is probably the wave of the future for the L as the current Eaton is the largest they make and I haven't heard of them developing something larger. Twin screw is much more efficient than the roots type and can produce larger boost with a smaller unit. In order to keep up with the new Dodge, even Coletti has hinted at a twin screw as the next step along with a multi-valve DOHC 5.4.

There are two companies that I know of developing a twin screw type supercharger for the L's, Kenne Bell and Magnuson. Preliminary testing by some tuners like Johnny Lightning show some impressive results. Here are some threads about them:

I thougt Kenne Bell already had one? It's a win screw design, kinda like a real flat Whipplecharger. They said they were getting like 15-20% more power at the same boost levels with the KenneBell unit than the stock Eaton.

Well, the Eaton may not be as efficient but it stands out pretty well and everyone knows what it is. Most who don't know are pretty stunned when they see it on top of the engine.

Twin screw sounds more like it.For what I do my eaton does what I need it to do. It makes my supercharged V=6 blower feel more like a small turbo, It has a great powerband don,t you think? Not to change the subject , but that red 390 horse T bird motor looks good through the louvers of the birds silver hood.I think Ford is getting ready to let it rip in the performance market.:D

Been there, seen that. Mark Sanchez, owner of Advanced Engineering West (Mod Motor God here in Southern California) has already done one with two blowers and a VERY trick intake system and plenum. I've seen it in the mags and at his shop. Not sure what issue it was, but it put out around 1000HP and was barely driveable. No kidding.
