Anything happening in Michigan?
Meetings or events?
For being the MotorCity we should have more going on here.

We have one track event scheduled in conjunction with the Mid-West region. Gingerman on July 21 & 22. This will be our big event of the year.
Any suggestions for events you would like to see and/or bring back?
I seem to never be able to make track events so here are some ideas other then track events.
Woodward dream cruise and others like it. Maybe a Frakenmuth trip for lunch and shopping for the wives, cruise night/hangout (nothing special). A weekend run to the Big Mac and a day trip to the island or Traverse City. Cedar Point trip. Maybe a country drive, meet for breakfast and decide where to drive, something short.
I know this will all take time, lots of planning (and money) just some thoughts.
They don't have to be big events even if only 2 cars show up.

All those are great ideas. I would go on any of them. But the problem is participation. We have a core group of guys who plan events, then no one shows up.
Even a simple event like the Fall or spring foliage tour involves running the route, typing up clear directions, finding a place to meet, and sending out E-mails. That's bare bones minimum. We try to put in a raffle or poker component, plus advertize by more than just E-mail.
Then when we only have two people show up, it gets quite discouraging.
For instance, we had a night at the drive in scheduled for last year. No one showed up. Not One. As a chapter leader, that's a real drag.
Not to say we can't do these events. If you have a specific event you would like to organize, we have some money in the treasury to support it. Let Mark, John, Brad, Jim or Erik know about it. We can help you get it going.
I understand. If my wife and I come up with an event we will do all we can to promote it.
S.East Mi is so big it can be hard to get people together.
We live so far east we can see Canada from our front porch EH!

What about a cruise night at one of the few drive-in theatres still operating. Might be cool?

Where is one still open?
I worked at the Bel Air drive-in (on 8 mile rd) back in the early 80's. That was a really fun job.
If all else fails put a big csreen t.v in the drive way and make your own. :D
I have a portable sound system.
