The only two I've heard on a 03 in person are the Magnaflow x and catback and Bassani x and catback. The Bassani sounds better in my opinion, but I'm not sure it was better by the amount of extra money it costs.
I think the MAC catback is extremely LOUD from what I've heard. So if that is what your looking for, go for it.

I have a 1993 cobra with MAC shorty headers, off road h-pipe, and 2 chamber mufflers with 2 1/2 tips.
It sounds GREAT!!!:tmb:
I went with all MAC to be a little different than everyone else.
It is loud but not too bad.
Hope this helps.

The bassani systems are great, they fit good and sound great. They cost alot and I think you can get the same gains from the Mac system or magnaflow. So buy the cheaper catback and use the extra money for something else. Rachrse

I have a complete MAC system on my 95 GT. It does sound great and is louder than competitors but I think the quality of the exhaust is awful.
It didn't fit well on intallation, the pipes had to be bent to fit and not hit the underbody or axle, plus the powder coating rubs right off causing immediate rusting - I do not recommend MAC at all.

Stupid question #1: Can I, should I, replace the "H" pipe with and "X" and does that involve removing/altering converters.
Stupid question #2: Will any of the above void my warranty. My folk here in the South are real funny about the warranty stuff. I want a free flowing cat-back, hopefully that includes "X" back if it doesn't void warranty on a $35,000 toy............I'm looking at Magnflow but Bassani seems to be up on 03 Cobras...Everyone else just uses older models numbers and I don't like that given the price we pay.
To aftermarket Companies: At least have the marketing skills to make & advertise...the piece is for 03 Cobra!
To Steeda: Also make the parts compatable...i.e. your shifter is....poor! Perhaps use urethane bushings...INCREASE THE HANDLE LENGTH AND ANGLE [2"+] to put shifter in drivers hand....designed for Cobra...not some run of mill Mustang[don't flame me for this as the Mustang has the 5- speed] ...Don't take this as an "I don't like your company"....Just look at your market...The people who buy the 03 are NOT inexperienced "kids". What is that saying..."you build and people will come"? You build my shifter...right..and I'll gladly buy from you.
Thanks, in advance. :p

Jhendrix - Replacing your stock catted H pipe with another catted x or h pipe should not affect your warranty in anyway. There are laws against protecting you from your dealership and there trigger happy service managers.
Here are a few links...read up

As for your other comments
Your stereotyping other mustang owners as inexperienced kids??? The 2003 Cobra is a mustang...if it weren't for all the V6's and GT's sold Ford would not have the opportunity to build this great car. I've owned 2 Gt's and now my 03. I get the feeling this is your first mustang? If so I hope you enjoy it. Just don't act like your car is that much different than the other mustangs...believe me it's not. The shifter location is the same in all three mustang models. I'm done now...but to fix your shifter location problem check this out

I'm sorry if I got all crazy there...but some Cobra owners should drive BMW's if you know what I mean. :wtf:

I don't think I made myself very clear. I have nothing against other stangs....it's the "companies" that provide aftermarket stuff that has me confused....
As for me, my first car was a 65 Mustang..and getting this 03 is like coming home. I've had some "snootie" cars...but theres no substitute for good ole American muscle.
Thank you very much for the info on the shifter...that's exactly what I've been looking for. Do you have Pro-5 with this handle? :)

No I don't have the handle...I've driven a car with it though and it'll be perfect for what your looking for.
Sorry about my little tissy.

I WAS WANTING SOME 411 ON THE MAC FROM OTHER OWNERS MYSELF. I JUST TALKED TO A GUY AT A SPEED SHOP THAT SUGGESTED IT. I AM NOT SO MUCH IN IT FOR THE HP INCREASE AS I AM THE SOUND. I DONT WANT IT TOO LOUD I JUST WANT TO HERE IT MORE. I WAS THINKING OF JUST CHANGING THE MUFFLERS TO FLOWMASTERS AND THATS ALL BUT I WOULD PREFER NOT TO CUT & THIS GUY TOLD ME THE MAC SYS. WILL BOLT ON AND IS A FULL CAT BACK. ANY IN PUT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

Why not get a flowmaster cat back system? They sound great and are not to loud, Ford has used them on many mustangs. I think the cost is going to be pretty close and they will bolt up to your stock H pipe. Rachrse

I have the MagnaFlows and they sound much better than stock! If you're going to own a muscle car it oughtta sound like one. No x-pipe yet. I'm pricing the accufab single blade throttle body/intake set-up along with the long tube headers and x-pipe combo through True Blue in NC. I'm already pushing 447rwhp. JDM has a kit they sell with the smaller pullies, superchip and catbacks. Netted me 80hp and 110lbs/ft of torque.

one other area of concern was the fact that the mac was not stainless. that is one reason i would prefer not to cut. that way i can put it back to stock with little effort.
is the flowmaster durable? and what do the tips look like, are they stainless.

I just installed the MAC Cat-Back 2.5 inch with 3.5 tips. It sounds great, looks, great, and netted 16 RWHP. Yes, Bassani is SS. Big deal. I disagree with the guy that said the fit was poor. Mine was a cinch.

I just heard the flowmaster mufflers on an 03. The salesman at my local dealer ownes an 03 and he had the mufflers welded into the stock cat back. Man it sounded great - deep rumble.
