I am in search of the best sounding after market exhaust for my 07 GT500. I have heard the Ford performance exhaust but I know there are others. Can anyone give some other options

I've heard that Bassanni axle backs have the best, deep throated, exhaust note. And won't droan you out at highway speed.
I to am trying to find the throatest I can for my Shelby. Hard to determine. Everyone has an opinion, and you know what everyone else has.
Had mine since Nov. Can't make up my mind........ :bash:

Thanks I will check it out. I have heard the Ford Racing axleback exhaust and the borla cat back. Just wish there was a way of comparing them at the same time.

Just bought and installed the FRPP exhaust from Ford racing by borla. Great sound not too loud while cruising but it really comes alive when I step on it. Easy install no mods to make it fit. A friend of mine got the Bassani exhaust and had to modify it to fit. The can it self is too close to the bumper and melts the inside of the bumper. just not a good fit. The FRPP exhaust fits perfect

I have decided to leave mine stock since so many people have complained about the drone at 2000 RPMs, with just about every manufacturer out there. I also have concerns about the warranty issues. At least with my tune, I can retune to the original in about 5 minutes

I bought a SCT tune from VMP performance. The owner is one of the best in the business for tuning Mustangs, especially the 2007 GT500. The tune takes about 5-10 minutes to do and adds maybe 20-25 RWHP. He is also supposed to come out with his own CAI kit soon which should add another 20-25 RWHP. I may be wrong on the HP numbers. I know he tuned one with this tune and a CAI from JLT and pulled 505 RWHP out of a stock GT500. Thats almost 600 HP at the crank, and that is with a conservative and supposed safe tune.It took me about 5-10 minutes to install the tune once I found the plug under the dash, below the steering wheel. The nice thing is, if you have to take the car in to the dealer, you can reinstall the original stock tune because the tuner saves the stock tune when you install the new tune. He can program the tuner for three different tunes. MIne are for 91, 92, & 93 octane. Hope this helps. Jason, the owner tuned one of the first GT500's and with his tune and a JLT CAI, got 505 RWHP. That works out to just over 600 HP at the crank. Not bad for a stock Mustang with a very safe and consevative tune. The CAI may affect the warranty too, but you can always switch it back but it just takes a little longer.

Finally made up my mind. Went with BORLA's. And am happy with them!!!!!! :hehe:

Think of it this way. If your muffler should rust out or fail in any way they can't stop you from replacing it with what ever you want. There is no factory warrenty on the muffler.
Someone else asked about a CAI.
When I changed mine the service manager looked at it and said: "Nice job, it will not affect the warrenty because you did not touch or change the maf sensor."

Took delivery of mine Feb 24, Installed FRPP axlebacks (which are made by Borla) within about a week. Sounds much better!
Now if only Hurst would make a shifter for the GT500

I went extensively through this with SVT and Ford Customer Assistance a couple of years ago, because I was also thinking of a new catback exhaust but was apprehensive because of all of the warning language in the owner's manual and the Ford Racing catalogue. Here's the summary:
(1) The minute you modify anything [in this case in the powertrain] of the car, the warranty for that entire powertrain becomes "questionable". That means that if something goes wrong earlier up the powertrain, and a local service manager wants to blame it on a non-OEM exhaust, he can do it and you're stuck with his decision unless you want to (a) go to another dealer or (b) go to court. Note that in the case of option (a), the warranty denial may already have been entered into Ford's database, where other service departments may see it.
If your car is out of its initial warranty but on a Ford ESP warranty, coverage decisions are still made by local service managers but are subject to Ford ESP review, which tends to be more stringent. So service managers may be more cautious in ESP situations.
Now, you might happen to have a local service manager who is much more kindly and benevolent about all of the above, and honors your warranty without any hassle. The point to remember is that this is his decision and is not binding upon either his successors at that dealership or SMs at other dealerships.
This is indeed frustrating where Ford is concerned. At both GM and Chrysler, if you buy an enhancement part (such as a catback) with their name on it (e.g. MoPar) and have it installed by one of their dealerships, your warranty remains intact. Ford is not this way, even with FRPP installed by a Ford dealership.
