I have had my GT500 Convertible almost a week now and wanted to report that it has to be the most enjoyable car I have ever driven.

So far nothing at all to report wrong, except you find yourself taking the longest way home possible.

And Smith Ford in Slaton Texas was an absolute joy to work with and is very knowledgeable in SVT products. Annette is the one to talk to if you are interested in any SVT product there.

I quized them about the ending of SVT, and they told me that SVT dealerships are gone, but SVT is still answering the 800 number and taking care of any questions.

I'd be interested to hear from other owners how their GT500's are doing.

thx

Picked mine up 11-15-06. Have done a tune to come up with 442 RWHP. Think it should be higher(like 460), but it was warm and humid that day and we did three runs back to back. The difference is amazing. Can't keep it straight in 1st or 2nd with the TC off, and the power is awsome. Hope to do a CAI after the 1st of the year. Need to get bigger tires and suspension mods for better traction. This car has met all my expectations and even surpassed them. I could not be happier and am having the time of my life driving this thing and I had some nice rides in the 60's and 70's.

I haven't really done any full launches, but do know of the wheel hop. And it has been documented in the Feb. 2007 Fast Fords and Mustangs.
They did a great base line to begin the segment on the first in a series of performance improvements.
They were launching around 4500 rpm with the TCS OFF. And stated any more than that was a useless run, with either too much spin or severe wheel hop. Then they added one at a time; slicks, a good tune and then a cat back exhaust, which landed them well into the 11's with just those items.
Go get the issue, it's the first part in a 3 part series on performance packages for the GT500, and was very well written.
And to ask you, do you not have any and everyone (except vettes) pulling up next to you and reving and acting like a fool? I had my McLaren Mustang Conv. out the other day cleaning it up for a friend to use and some kids pulled up in a Z28 and did a burn out. When he stopped I asked if he had anything wrong or was that an attempt and telling me something. He didn't think it was funny. I told him I'd be back at the Sonic there in a couple minutes and I'd be more than happy to let him beat me in front of all his friends. I drove about 5 blocks and brought the GT500 back up. I know it was childish, but I did a bit of a burn out, right behind his car and when the smoke cleared, I waved him to come over. One of his friends yelled. Holy ****!, that's the old man that was in that McLaren. I smiled and told him to come on, and bring all his friends. And that I don't do this very often. But felt that he really needed to teach me a lesson. He wouldn't even talk to me. I guess he didn't find it as funny. :-)
I usually laugh real big. But thought it was funny that time. About all there is around here to worry about is a Z06 or Viper, and they're probably not 6 in town total. It's good to be at the top of the food chain.
Hope this helps.
