Patience is a virtue I'm told. My new BABY was born on 10/10/06, but I'm still waiting. Well this car is one worth waiting for. I've seen and heard one up close and personal. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!! And I can wait. Knowin for sure she's been born is soothing, and that'll I'll be behind the wheel soon.
Who am I kidding . I WANT MT BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :upst:

Took delivery of mine 3 weeks ago today. It's worth how ever long you've had to wait, pay over MSRP and lose sleep at night. Good luck, have fun!

Rec'd convoy ship date of 10/27. Should have been here by now. You're right, of course, it's well worth the wait, $$$, loss of sleep, trips to the local truck stops looking for car carriers, trips past the dealer.etc etc etc....

We've got it bad.

Enjoy you're ride. Lucky Man!!!!!!!!!! :bash:

Its a Shelby 500

Not a Cobra
Not an SVT
sorry...
I Own an SVT Cobra, probably the last model of the SVT Cobra to be produced.
I will respect its place in automotive history, the same as The Shelby,
which I feel is its own great benchmark
and will make its own history

Then you should have no problem getting a certificate of authenticity stating such. Does it really matter?

You have a nice car that states itself regardless of the badging (cobra, SVT, etc, which is more marketing than anything else).

Enjoy.

Well said.
The Shelby is its own monster. and honestly if I owned
one I would want disassociation to Cobra name. I would
embrace the SHELBY as a cut above the Cobra.

I being a Cobra owner do not wish to call my car a "Mustang GT Cobra"

You have the History coming "Happy Holidays"

The Shelby GT500 Mustang, the Shelby name and "his" logos are steep in history. Way before SVT was even thought of or needed.
Are there cobras on the '07 GT500, yes, just as he had in on the GT500 back in the 60's. That's his signature. Would I want the GT500 to be called a Cobra Mustang. Not really. If I had wanted something named that I would bought the '04 when I was looking at them. The GT500 name has made a wonderful history all on it's own, and I think the '07 has lived up to it's predesessor, and just as in 1967, it has Shelby's signature cobra on it. If you think an '07 GT500 is expensive, try a '67 or better yet a late number '69.

And just to set the record straight, the GT500 is an SVT vehicle. I have more SVT badges on it than cobras, that's for sure. And an excerpt from the description of the '07 GT500 was, "A collaboration of Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and Carroll Shelby, the GT500 will be produced in limited quantity for three years (approximately 10,000 units/year) on the line at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan (AutoAlliance) assembly facility."
If it walks like a duck...
Please let me know if you have different information (not what some salesman or dealership spewed to you).

Ford owns the Cobra emblem, not Shelby. If that were the case, all Cobra emblemed cars would be Shelbys, signature wise.

Don't think so. The Shelby Cobra was around before there was a Mustand with that name.

Indeed there was a Shelby Cobra roaster. But we are talking about the emblem that you referenced
Are there cobras on the '07 GT500, yes, just as he had in on the GT500 back in the 60's I'll repeat: Ford owns the Cobra emblem, the chrome coiled serpent that was on the Cobra II (http://www.musclecars.net/showcars.php?c=m&model=Cobra%20II) and other cars, such as the 1969 Ford Fairlane Cobra (http://www.fordfairlane.com/) and the Ford Falcon XC Cobra (http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_info_ford_falcon_xc_cobra.htm). Carol Shelby had nothing to do with these cars.

Carol Shelby's Mustang signature is the "GT350 and GT500." Ford had to cease producing 1984 mustangs with the GT350 trim because Carol Shelby sued Ford for using it and he won (http://www.mustangforums.com/fox-body-mustang/). Yes, Ford and Carol did not always have a loving relationship.

Now, back to the coiled serpent. The mustang Shelby's of the 60s (and 1970) were GT350s and GT500s and not officially cobras, just as yours is a Shelby GT500 and not a Shelby GT500 Cobra. The official Shelby Cobra is this http://www.xs4all.nl/~luukb/history.html . The last Shelby Cobra roadster was built in 1967. The following year, 1968, the Cobra emblem appeared -- as we know it today -- on the Shelby mustangs. The two could not exist together. Don't forget, the cobra roadster emblem is different than the one on your GT500.

The SVT Cobra is a different beast, where SVT, a division of Ford, adorned their mustangs with the coiled serpent (owned by Ford) and officially named (certified) them "SVT Mustang Cobra."

OK... I'LL RESPECTFULLY REPEAT AGAIN. The cobra emblem is licensed to Ford from Carroll Shelby.

I have more SVT badges on it than cobras, that's for sure.

I had to go and look on my Cobra and count them.
1 on the trunk.
1 on each hub cap so thats 5 total on the outside of the car.
1 in the car.
2 under the hood.
For a total of 8 unless I missed one.

Emphasis is not necessary and, respectfully, your statement is not correct. Actually, it is the other way around: "Cobra" is a registered trademark of the Ford Motor Company. That is, Ford owns numerous trademarks that include "Cobra" and the snake and has granted Carroll Shelby and his businesses, Carroll Shelby Licensing, Inc. and Shelby American, Inc. an exclusive license to use the trademarks relating to Cobra and the cobra snake.

Carroll Shelby, however, does own numerous trademarks that include "Shelby." Notice the snake that is on your car (just by itself) is not at http://www.shelbylicensing.com/.

It was Ford's decision to adorn the 2007 Shelby GT500 with the snake and capitalize on the snake's image as a signature for a muscle car. Mr. Shelby allowed Ford to adorn the 2007 super mustang with his name and the letters "GT500."
