Slowly but surely, creeping down towards the 11's!
No blower, no nitrous, no turbo. Just lots of pushrod power... :D

Nice run Greg! That is sweet...it would run with most of the Z06's I've seen at the strip, and beat many of them!

Now, about that R/T...;) :D

I sure like your R/T & 60 times too. Thats great Greg.

Just wondering if you lower your tire pressure when you run?
When I ran a few weeks ago I was at 30 PSI which I was told is too much & the reason I wheel hopped the 3rd run. My son ran his Lightning at 12 PSI

Yeah Greg, the .519 is sweet! Makes the other guy think he was asleep at the wheel and they usually do something silly and break loose or short shift! Heheh...every little bit helps! Of course, even with a terrible light and 60', your opponent in that round got ya! But you made a heck of a race out of it. 5 hundreths vs. a car that is 4 tenths faster! What the heck was he running?

FireChief...if you're running radials, you do NOT want to run with that low a pressure. Believe it or not, on street tires I get my best 60' times with 38 lbs. in the rear. Radials will cup if underinflated, and cupping means you don't get traction. Add to that that they are dangerous at speed if the sidewall is not supported and I really wouldn't recommend you run at anything less than manufacturers recommended pressures.

If you're talking drag radials, then 18-22 lbs. seems to be the number of choice, but I don't have the experience on them yet to give you a thumbs up or down on these numbers.

If you're talking slicks, I will let others with experience answer, because I don't have any with the Cobra.

Thanks for the info. My son had stock tires & ran at 12 PSI. He also has Hoosiers which he didn't put on last week. I'll pass the info to him too. It makes sence. He didn't have much traction with 12 PSI. Could that be the reason? Too low a pressure?
My R/T time was 0.789 on my 2nd run with 30 PSI.

If he is running street radials at 12 PSI, yes, not only will he not get traction, but it could prove very dangerous! The radials will cup, and with that low a pressure, he'll be flexing his sidewalls badly!

Next time you're at the track, try 38 lbs. in the rear. I didn't believe it either until I experimented with it and saw the 60 times go down an average of .15! It WILL require a bit more finesse not to break them loose, but with practice, you'll get there. :tmb:

Ken, it was a 306 with a KB blower in a fox body. I came THIS close to tripping the win light against an 11-second car. :D

As far as tire pressure, I run drag radials at 18-ish and yesterday when I made that 12.2 pass, I had my ET streets at 12 PSI, launching at 3800 RPM. If I launch higher, I blow off the tires. I need bigger tires if i want to get down in the 1.5 zone...

It just goes to show that the driver has a lot to say as to who gets the W! Nice job! :tmb:

I suppose that might be true. I have grease under my fingernails and I removed my exploded 302 and installed my 347 all by myself.
Does that qualify me as "More then just some computer geek?"

Nothing wrong with being a computer geek... :D :geek:

I am impressed!

I would never post my slips - my R/T's BLOW - especially in comparison to yours...
