Ok..I bought an 03...I'm an old geizer who remembers and loved muscle car days...but want to keep a warranty....I'm thinking of:
1. Pro-5 shifter
2. Magnaflow cat-back
3. and...some sort of air intake change...
Please advise what you suggest......before I die of old age..
By the way, 10,000+ 03 cobras have been sold along with membership to this forum. I am darned sorry to see so few members when in this time of ........social change, and probable war...we as folks don't communicate about hobbies like we should.. Just my .02 cents worth.....
Thanks for any input

Mods? Warranty? Two hot topics.
I say get the Basani exhaust (sounds excellent), some say the Steeda shifter is a major improvement (eliminates the notchy feeling 2nd to 3rd) , K&N air filter, replace upper pulley and chip, you may be over 450 HP just like that. Of course doing the pulley and chip WILL VOID your warranty.
In my case, I'm happy with the car as is. IT IS A MUSCLE CAR stock from the factory. I'll wait until I put more miles in it and hope that it doesn't develop any problems, and any potential recalls (Traction Control??) that Ford may come up.
Old geezer? don't think so. old geezers buy Cadillacs ;)
Cya around young man and good luck with your toy.

Either shifter will be a huge improvement. Catbacks should be rather warranty safe; and both Magnaflow and Bassani are extremely high quality and will sound good. The "safest" route for the intake would be a K&N drop-in and removing the air silencer, although a full replacement (such as a Densecharger) can be easily switched back to the factory air box when you take it in for service.
The best thing to do would be to talk to your service manager about your intended mods and see if they would pose a problem. Even though it's ludicrous, some people have had their tranny warranties voided for an aftermarket shifter. It depends on the dealer. Still, I don't see a T-56 blowing up anytime soon.

What is this? Is this the same thing as the "cold air" stuff MAC makes?

Yeah, except it's made out of ABS plastic instead of steal (so it stays much, much cooler) and is a heckuva lot cheaper.

I've got an '03 Cobra and am thinking of adding this on. Do they really yield the HP that is advertised?
Is there a significant difference between full length and MAF forward?

The 03 is all about intake/exhaust. The stock airbox and filter are way too small for setup, but they couldn't physically fit anything larger in there. Any large diameter cone filter is going to add huge power, and relocating it to the fender well will help it out even more. I've seen people gain 5+rwhp simply by ditching the air silencer, and another 5 from the airbox, so 20+rwhp is easily believable with a Densecharger or other CAI system.
Full vs. MAF-forward. There's probably a 2-3hp difference for the N/A applications, but it looks like they don't have a full setup available at the moment.

They showed a prototype full on their website, so I'd think it would be available reasonably soon.
Here's what I've got in mind for bolt-on's that (I think) would not cause any warranty issues.
CAI
Catback
Replace shifter
I'd like to stick with stainless on the catback given that the stock system is stainless. It'll cost a bit more but worth it, I think. I'm as much interested in getting a deeper sound at this point as I am the extra HP. <g>

My humble suggestion:
A harness bar and harnesses - they will keep you in your seat and make track event more fun and obtainable. Also required for higher speed events (www.openroadracing.com).

Sounds good! Either Magnaflow, Bassani, or Borla will be a good stainless catback. Personally I'd go with the Bassani, but it gets expensive. Check with Steve @ Houston Performance, he's got the best prices for exhaust.
