What is the proper oil filter for the 02 SVT Focus! Just did my first change and the "SVT Book" shows FL-400S but when I removed the "Original" is was a FL-801!! Whats up with this...

FL-400S is the correct filter. 5W-30 is the correct oil.

Called SVT and they said that the FL400S is preferred but FL2005 will do fine...as for the weight, they said that in Europe, the Focus uses 5W20 and here most (not mine) comes from the dealer with 5W30..mine came with the 5W20.

check your manual. it says to use 5W-30.

I agree 5W30 is the correct weight...half the time, I don't think the dealers know what they are saying. I just turned 1000 miles and plan on using the Super Premium Ford 5W30 with the FL400S.

i'm curious, how did you know it came with 5W20?

I ran 5-w20 in the Bullitt and the lightning and 60,000 miles in my PGT, and they use 5-w20 in europe on the same engine, why not the SVT Focus? did a oil change @ 2700 an dit seems to do fine. I am all for better gas milage :)

well, are you referring to the ST170 engine? The SVT Zetec is not the same as the regular Zetec engine, it is heavily modified which is why they use a different oil.

heavily huh? and too think the engineer @ work said is was just for gas milage? dumb ford engineers!!!
