I turn over 400,000 km a week ago. Still going well. Keeping my fingers crossed for another 100,000 km.

Wow!
Can you tell us what you've had to replace in those 8 years? I've had steering rack seals go and know of people who had to replace cats (which are very expensive).

What I have replaced. Hmm none of the things you mentioned. Just mainly regular maintenance items nothing really all that special. I do need to do some work on it now bushings and such are worn out again but really other than that not much. Tranny had issues a couple of years ago got that fixed, A/c isnt working right now havn't been able to find the leak just yet.
I just do regular maintenance and when something is broken I fix it. I do mostly highway driving so that helps a lot too. I drive my car all year round. You can see some pictures of it on our website www.svtoa-toronto.ca in the gallery section. It will be the black one.

That's great, Laura. You should let Ford know, they could use you and your car for a reliability example, maybe launch your TV career. :D
BTW, what's that in US miles? (See, I almost said "real miles", but I don't want to piss off Canada now, we need all the friends we can get)

It's SIMPLE to figure out- 400,000 X .62= 248,000

Hey. I have an SVT Contour and a Cobra-- have to keep switching back and forth from metric to English tools, even to take off the wheels.

Half the fasteners on my Cobra are metric, I just had to use a 10mm and 14mm (I think) to work on the rear calipers. Fortunately I still have all my motorcycle tools.

Two things I would do. Search the archives for any Contour trans problems. And then start a thread with that as the subject. See who comes along with an idea. :D

Probably time for synchros or you could have a bent shift fork in there, they still sell upgraded units which are relatively inexpensive, just taking the tranny out to put them in is the PITA.

Waaaa-hoooooo!!! Congrats to you Ms. Laura AND that "Black Beauty" of an SVT Contour! Considering the conditions you drive in, that is a real testiment to a quality product...and careful, sensible driving... :p
Aw the heck with it... who are we kidding! We just need to time your NEXT "km milestone" so that it happens on a road course somewhere!! :bna
Drive on!

Well maybe we can plan for the 450 or the 500 one Jeff. I am up for it. I will keep my eyes on the schedule and on my odometre maybe next summer sometime. Wish me luck
