Some of you may be aware of this, but I just learned that American Collectors Insurance offers Driver's Education Insurance.

For those of you who attend HPDE & DE club sponsored events, you may want to check this out, as many auto insurance policies will not cover you and or your instructor crashing your car on-track.

I checked with my insurance (Travelers) and they will cover myself as the driver, but not my instructor.

Wow, and they were right next to our tent at Carlisle. I should have gone over and talked turkey. I thought they were just for collectors. :wtf:

This is a great alternative only if you can not find an auto insurance company that does not exclude track events. Based on the agreed value the premium charge is 1.5% and the deductible is 20% when the damage occurs on the track. This means that if your car is valued at $25,000 you would pay a premium of $375 and any loss would need to exceed $5,000 prior to your collecting anything.

That might be OK. My track car is probably only worth $10,000 on the market. And I'd probably only try to collect if I wadded it. But I'll have to look into it. See, I'm paying a bunch right now because it's on our policy with 4 other cars, plus our 2 teenage drivers. If I can move the Cobra to this policy exclusively (meaning they offer liability in MD), I might end up saving a bunch.

The Blue Monster, right?

Yup! In the Esses, at ~100 mph. Story has it that he broke something and spun in his own oil.

Does the insurance also cover towing, I wonder?

Why is it that when I go for an "Insta-Quote" I can't get one because the vehicle is "newer than 15 years old." :upst:

I looked into this and this particular company does not provide Missouri residents with protection at this time. Does anyone know of another insurance company that might?

THANKS!
