This SVT Contour I just purchased trans was gone, so I put a new trans in and now I am looking to put some horses in it. Can anyone give me some tips on things I can do to this powerful car. I know I wanna put a supercharger in it and do the exhaust, can anyone give me insight on this and any other performance ideas I can do, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. I can be contacted on here or OneKidd23@yahoo.com

Go to Contour.org. This is a site that covers all mods to the Contour and is much more active then this board. I belong to both as I have a Cobra R as well as a SVT Contour.

MSDS headers, bosal exhaust, if you planning on putting a blower on it vortech still sells their kit. Of course make sure you get the upgraded jack shaft. IF you buy headers from MSDS and plan on putting a vortech on it make sure you specify for vortech. IF you plan on going the other boost route Arizona Dyno chip sells a turbo kit. In which case you won't want to buy headers.. and of course there is BATinc.net for other nifty little things. If you can do without the car for a month or so send your intake to extrude hone and have the third pass done on it. Also I know you don't want to pull that tranny again but put a torsen lsd in it and upgraded shift forks, if a turbo is in your future might want to look for one of the 2.73 geared (Bondurant cars made by roush) tranny's vs. the 4.06 one that is probably in it.

My SVTC 99 model with a bat intake,DMD, MSDS headers and magnaflow exhaust( still catted and resonated) put down 181 fwhp and 171ft lbs tq with every day heat soak and bad 02's that is SCT tuned btw. It will do all 160+ mph w/ 97k miles on the clock.

Things to look out for with the tranny are the shift linkage they can leave you stranded

I also suggest the bushings from BAT for the sway bars.

The borla exhaust is nice but wayyyyy overpriced. My magnaflow is not overpowering til you hit about 100mph then the stock radio kinda fades away..

I also suggest a DMD crank pulley Dual mode dampner about 110 bucks you will need a new crank bolt also as they are tty torque to yield so one time use only. If you really want you can do underdrives but the DMD makes the revs much smoother above 4k which will in the long run save your crank bearings.

If you plan on taking long hard right turns I suggest a baffled oil pan like the cougars came with. Or you can spend a few hundred on an accusump unit. I run 6qts of oil at all times even though it says 5.5

Cheap throttle body mod to smooth out more air flow is to get a different set of screws that flatten it out as much as possible. IF you can get away without a cat then go for it, 11fwhp without it 14 ft lbs tq gain but I don't mind saving the environment a little my car comes alive @ 100 in 5th and pulls hard all the way to the fuel cut off set @ 7200 rpm dunno how fast cause the speedo stops @ 160mph. (Autobahn no I didnt break any US laws)
The water pump has probably been changed to a metal impellar unit if it is past 60k miles if not that is simply piece of mind the Contours came with a plastic impellered water pump which is ****e to failure. The bad is that by the time you realize it failed it is usually too late for the engine and something has warped or cracked.
As far as a replacement fuel pump which you will eventually do is just get a 255 intank. KEep an eye on your front tires because the lower control arms tend to wear with the rubber in there and cause a camber issue wearing the inside of the front tires. All I can think of off hand good luck and drive it like you stole it.
