Had a recent incident at local Ford dealership ( not naming names) but some dude came into the dealer with a 2000 Cobra blowing smoke out of his cylinders. The car was well cared for and not beyond warranty mileage limits. But the dealer had a special tech rep from HQ come examine the Computer box. They saw where a chip had been installed and removed ( scratches on circuit board no silicone where it should be ) and they Voided his warranty !! This is from the head service rep at a very large dealership. So, be careful of your modifications ( i.e. make sure you can return car to stock form ) as to not have an evidence trail like this poor guy. Some guys are going as far as buying an extra Ford computer with modification chips to install and still have their stock Ford box to swap back in for dealer scrutiny. Hey if Ford is going to play hard-ball, we have to be smarter than the average bear.

2000 Cobra? Where was this? Maybe a 99 or a 01 Cobra?

MadMax as you know I have a chip and upper pulley, had a chirping from a pulley, turned out to be the idler pulley. Ford replaced it with no questions asked. Been going to the same dealership for about six years. I guess some are not as pickey as others and I know the dealer you are talking about. I don't realy like them and never have. Rachrse

Minor repairs like your idler pulley will still get fixed but if your engine needs replaced thats when a prob will arise. It is not up to your dealer on something this major.
