:bna I am currently working on some events around the area. Downers Gove and Plainfield both have cruise nights dedicated to specific makes or types of cars. I won't have any info until Feb., but both said they can set aside space for SVTOA. If any one knows of other towns or shows that we can attend, email at tacatz1@sbcglobal.net, and I will try to get info and post it as soon as possible. Also, Wheaton has a parade which is the largest in Illinois, great place to show off, however, I don't know if driving 2 mph is really great for the left leg, let me know thoughts on that. One last one, Joliet has a large car show and cruise, usually on fathers day weekend, if interested, once again let me know.

I'm a regular at the Frankfort and Lemont cruise nights. Last year Frankfort featured Mustangs in mid June and Lemont featured Fords at the end of August. I was at the Downers Grove and Westmont's Mustang feature night last year, never been to Joliet's car show...heard it was a traffic nightmare though.

Basically I'm game for any cruise night where cold beer, good food and cool Fords are.

I will try and find out info on when they will be having Ford nights and try to coordinate with the other towns so that they don't all have Ford night at the same time. As for Joliet, I have been to their show twice and didn't find traffic to be that bad.

Rolling Meadows is a good one. Lombard -

We are trying to organize one here in our town (Carol Stream) - they just built a really cool gazebo, park and stuff off of Gary - and it now has a paved parking lot....

maybe we can get in there and have our own cruise night!

I read in the newspaper last week that Lockport will have a weekly cruise night too.

Hey, don't we have a windy city chapter member from Lockport?;)

My wife and I are regulars on Friday night in Wheaton during the summer. We hang by the hardware store and generally have 3 or 4 other Mustangs join us on the far east end of the cruise night event. They do have a Ford night but I have not seen a 2003 schedule. Our work schedules make week night events tough to get to.

The gears and ears show the last week end of June at the Dupage Fair Grounds is simply incredible! :bna All the sweet corn you can eat is included in your entry fee. I believe last year there was about 400 cars.:D

Elburn is great in Mid August and has fantastic food. Over 300 cars last year.

As far as road trips I am sold on the Spring Fling in Nashville Indiana May 16th, 17th and 18th. I'll be trying to set up a convoy for Thursday 5/15 from the Chicago area.

I am also seriously considering the Stampede to Dearborn August 8th - 10th. http://www.stampedetodearborn.com/info.htm

A must for us this year will be the Fun Ford Week End at Cordova on September 5th - 7th.

I look forward to seeing your cars at some shows this year!

thank you for the info --
I will put all of that on our calendar and see what we can work out!

Yup - we'd like to attend the spring fling that will be a blast!

Weeknights are hard for us as well - Friday and Saturday nights are good - Sunday afternoons (early) are awesome for cruisin' since most people are having a barbeque, eating, or on vacation, or something... Around 6:00 then the traffic comes back out.

Let's plan a small cruise around here this year !!

We went to the Gears and Ears show two years ago and had a couple of bad experiences (unfriendly people) -- but maybe we will try again this year... people come and go...

Thx again for the info and we will be looking forward to seeing your cars and meeting you again!

Nice:D

Are those chrome 95R or chrome 98 cobra wheels on your Atlantic Blue vert?

I was looking for chrome 98 wheels a couple years ago without success.

we had our '98 SVT wheels chromed by East Coast Plating several years ago -- they are holding up very well.

However, most of the time this car has '18" Steeda Ultra Llites (chrome)
with Bridgestone S02's --
size 265 - 35 - 18

we are extremely happy with this car -- KB suspension, bracing, Koni adjustable shocks/struts, Vortech SC, etc. etc.
Shes allot of fun to drive!

heres a picture with the Ultralites --

you can't hardly see them in the picture --

you can go to my website --

I think I have a picture of them on there somewhere...
its been awhile since I worked on it....

I have had 5 sets of wheels on my 97 Rio Red Cobra Convertible. :) Here is a picture of my 97 with the current 2000 Cobra R 18 inch wheels beside my friend Mike Murray's 98 with the wheels I sold him.

Bonnie, nice web site....that lift in your garage is awesome. I did find a pic with the 98 chrome wheels. Although I love their look, I can't see myself buying new wheels and having them plated. Prolly this fall I'll get the polished '01 cobra wheels. Of course any change of plan can come to on ebay :D

Rick, any clearance issues with those 2KR wheels? They sure fill up those wheel wells.

PETSNKE, I get just a little rub on the mud flap when I cut the wheels hard. I'm not sure if lowering the car would work well with the 18 inchers. I do like the look but you are right it is a full wheel well.

Here is a picture from the Indiana SAAC show last year.

Hey, I finally got back into this site!! Had some problems with my password, anyway, went to the car show in Warrenville last summer and it was IMO a good one. I think it was sometime in late Aug. It was part of their end of summer bash. Looking forward to seeing everyone and having some fun with the cars this year!!:D

you sound like us --- we went thru about three different sets before we were happy -
we are now very happy !!

hey,
what size tires did you have on there?
Did you have any problems with rubbing?

Reason why I ask is because people are always asking me about the '00 wheels on the '98 and under Cobra's... The ultralites are 9" and the tires are 265 x 35 x 18 -- so we haven't had any problems with rubbing.....

we did hear that those that were going with the 275's were having problems....

nice car by the way !! Can't wait to go for a drive with all of you !!

yup - I had the same question (above...)

And -
thx for the complement on the site -- its rather old --
I'm changing it.... if my computer would just cooperate...

The 01 wheels are awesome -- we have a set that we purchased and I'm waiting to see what to do with them.... (long story).....

heres a link for the lift for those of you who were asking:

if you decide to purchase one, and need installation --
Tim's company does this type of work --
insured and certified....

I went with the 2kr wheels also with 18 265/40 tires. I went with those because that is what the 2000R had. I do get a little rubbing in the wheel wells on heavy braking, but I have seen that on other lowered cars under heavy braking. They do fill the wheel wells up! :tmb:

Next time I may go with the 35 series like Winndysvt, and probably 275's in the rear. I have no problem in the rear.

By the way winndysvt I love that blue; matches my eyes.:haha:

Cant wait to get together and see all these cars soon:bna

thx for the complement on the blue !!
I love it too!

we went thru a lot of research with the tire sizes --
I was a bit afraid of the 40's -- and KB wanted us to stick with the same size all the way around since we don't drag race and its mostly for performance driving.... Remember, the 2000 R has a different suspension set up than our '99s....
Have you had any suspension changes to yours Jim?

depending upon what you want to do, you might want to reconsider the tire sizes --

talk to KB -- larger tires in the back are primarily for racing in straights --- for what Tim and I do, the even tire sizes all the way around help us to "handle" better in the curves and corners and make it a little bit less likely that you slide off the track cuz your back end is trying to push your front end around ;
:jawdrop:..... from our experience so far we now getting much better results.....

All of my pics are too big to post, prolly is you problem too. If you open your pics with "Paint" in windows you can shrink them by choosing stretch/skew under the image button on the tool bar. I usually just reduce them by 50%, then they're small enough to post. Save them as a jpeg, then attach it to your post.

Well that's my quick, non-technical way to post pics on this forum anyway:)

also,
check your current picture program......

what do you have?

Picture Gear is one of the best for shrinking pictures ! You can make the picture exactly the size, resolution and quality you want it to be !!

Picture It is an excellant program, but not quite as good at sizing the pictures the way you want them.....

Jim -- let me know, if you can give me a disc of the pictures you want to shrink I'd be happy to do it for you!

OK, I'm trying PETSNKE's technique. I cant remember what I was trying to show. I think it was how the tires fill the wheel wells. This is with 18 265/40 BFG KDW and KB lowering suspension, down about 11/2 inch.

Yes, they did springs struts, bushings, super sub system, upper and lower engine brace, caster camber plate. I still have the stock K member however. The coil over system was just to much at the time. Maybe someday. My next addition is a functional roll bar.

cool --

your car looks awesome !!

We just put the KB cage in last weekend --
Tim says that if we ever want to make it into a full roll bar he knows what to do...

I'm not sure if we want to, or need to go that far with it though... it depends upon how much track driving we end up doing.... if it was a convertible, we'd have no choice...
