Hello all!,

I just purchased a 1999 SVT Contour from an owner that basically kept it hidden in a garage for the last 3 years. The car only had 6800 miles on it and and still smells new inside!! I've already racked up a little over five hundred miles in five days!! This actually not hard for me to do as I drive a little over a hundred miles to and from work now but I love driving this car! I wouldn't mind driving 200 miles in this thing!! (Ok maybe that's a bit much ;-) This is actually my 2nd Contour as the SVT is replacing a 95 Contour that I am also very fond of but with 102,000 miles I started looking around for deal and actually found one! But I digress...

My real reason for this post is I was wondering if this SVTOA club is worth joining? I really don't have a whole lot of free time but now that I have a car worthy of a some fun time behind the wheel I thought I would see what clubs and events are out there. Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Al Wurst

I am involved in the South Carolina chapter and think that membership is well worth the cost. The SVTOA is trying to become an event and participation driven club. Look at the portion of the site that shows the different chapters to find the closest one to you.

My answer is: Join if you want to make it something you enjoy through your participation in the events. Based on your enthusiasm for your Contour I'd say jump in with both feet! And come visit us at our big event next Sept in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

I had a 95 Contour V6 5-speed and loved it. I know I would enjoy owning the SVT version. The Contour is the most underappreciated vehicle Ford has ever made. Enjoy! and Welcome.

Awesome find. Be good to her. I also know how it is about putting on the mileage. I put 1k miles on mine the first week and 19,950 the first yr. Since then I've been good and only put on 7k. If you're an auto enthusiast then join. I don't really have any friends that are into cars so its an outlet for me. And even though the firepower is stacked against us(Cobra, Lightning) you can keep up alot better than you would expect. ;)
