Ford GT Crash Gets Attention
February 1, 2006
In the past two days, www.showmeyourstang.com has been recieving thousands of visitors from all over the world because of the pictures posted January 30, 2006. Links were posted on dozens of forums including mwsns.com, corner-carvers.com, mustangworld.com, tidewaterracing.com, thestanggang.com, tamparacing.com, need2speed.com, racingsyndicate.net, hcmcstangs.com, wildhorseclub.com, hybridz.org, mustanglife.tenmagazines.com, and bradbarnett.net, z06vette.com, svtperformance.com, crownvic.us, dragva.com, hotrodders.com, svtcobraclub.com, houstonperformancedriving.com, fordpower.net, streetcarforums.com, upstatemustangclub.com, southernmustangandford.com, tricitiesmustang.com, forums.stang.net, arkansasshowandperformance.com, and the placeholder.com. Show Me Your Stang is only responsible for the postings on two of these sites, the rest just spread like wildfire.
Many people saw the pictures but were not sure what the details were. According to the person who took the pictures, the crash happened in New Zeland. We belive the driver is the lady in the pink shirt talking to the officers in one of the pictures. Apparently she started up to fast and couldnt keep it straight. The driver ended up hitting a guard rail then a power pole. The driver walked away, and there was no passenger. A lot of people posted their concern that the air bag not deploy. A lot of non-ford drivers posted this was because it was a Ford. "It is amazing how many people with $500 cars consider themselves experts on this topic" -quote from a Ford GT owner after reading that post. The real reason the air bag did not deploy was because the crash did not involve frontal impact. The sensors are located in the front and on the firewall. The Ford GT does not come equipped with side curtain airbags.
