I'll be installing brake cooling ducts and will lose my fog lights which I use often when I'm driving on rural roads. I live by some forest preserves and the extra lighting helps me spot deer on the side of the road. Sooo.... I'm thinking of upgrading my headlight bulbs for some extra lighting without the expense of a HID setup.
Any 94-98 owners try Sylvania Silverstars?

I'm also installing brake cooling ducts. But they're this kind that mount inside the lower grill area, and you retain your driving lights. I'd tell you who makes them, but I'm getting them from Brooks Performance, and I don't know who makes them. You could check at www.brooksperformance.com, and ask him.

I didn't see anything on their site. I sent them a email.
Thanks

I should have told you he does suspension work. It's just the he put a set of the ducts on his personal car, and I liked them so much I asked for a set, too.

SilverStars are nice, but alot of oncoming traffic will think you have your highbeams on. They are as good as the PIAA's, cheaper, and made in USA.

Larry, I was just driving in the Cobra before dawn this morning, and remembering how bad the stock lights are. Do you know if the Silverstars will fit our year? I might just get some.

Yes my friend, they make Silverstars for the older Cobras. I've been considering putting them in for a while now, but since I rarely drive my car at night, I haven't done it yet. I think my buddy Dave put them in his GT convertible. I will ask him if they were worth buying. :D

The 9007ST bulb fits my Cobra and '03 Ranger. The cobra is pretty low, so theres little concern they'll be too bright for oncoming traffic. I think I'll give them a try, I've been told Autozone sells them for $59/pair.

Check out the Consumer Reports car edition before shelling out the extra money for "improved lighting". They show a variety of replacement bulbs and most do not offer any benefit other than color change.

Is that issue on the newstand now? Our sub ran out years ago. It's hard to imagine anything worse than my stock bulbs. I mean, on low beam they're ok, but I drive in at 5am, and I could use high beams a lot, but I don't because they're WORSE than my low beams. I've always guessed it had something to do with the shape of the reflectors in the 94-98 body style. :wtf:

Has anyone found a good place to order the Sylvania's from? I know somebody with them, and he's happy. But our lousy Advance Auto around here is packed with morons. :bash:

I'm surprised you need to order them. Most auto stores I've been in seem to stock them with all the euro lighting. Advance Auto and Pep Boys carry them. I don't know if autozone has them. :cbra:

I picked mine up at Autozone. I noticed that Amazon.com has them cheaper though, even after shipping.

Are the bulbs at that link for a Cobra? It doesn't seem to mention what they fit? I feel funny ordering tham from Amazon, though I've spent Billions (with a B) there on DVD's and books. :geek:
Herb, remember, I live in the the suburbs of the Nation's Capitol. Nobody here works on their own car. Our only mechanics work for the CIA. :guns:
The Advance Auto near me is a joke. There's a Pep Boys about 35 min away that's not bad, though. But if I can get 'em delivered to my door... :bna:

The application chart on the Sylvania web site lists the part number as a 9007ST for Mustang. The Cobra doesn't have a special bulb, just the different clear headlight lense.

So I get to see them in your Cobra at Mountaineer Madness before I buy them? ;)

I ordered them an hour ago from Amazon. I might get them put in by May. :moon:

They don't spoil. What'd you get?

Tokicos from Ford as used on Mach 1. :D Figure they would be a good compromise.
