Hey everyone, i have a quick question. I am looking for a good intake for my SVTF. I know AEM has a cai out for us but i've heard quite a few people complain about it rubbing against something. Just wanted to get some feedback from people who have the AEM cai on their car.
I would also like about any other intake that's on the market right now for us. Thanks

I have heard good things and bad things about it until I read that after running the car on a track for about 30-45 minutes oil starts to drip out of the filter....
I will see if I can find the thread for it but that has made me second think that one due to the fact that I am going to be doing alot of on track stuff next year with our chapter

I am not wasting my money on the AEM for the reasons that:
-it is overpriced
-will suck up water if you go in a deep puddle
-breather tube is far too low
-clutch cable rubs it (the fix is the little piece of tubing that comes with the AEM CAI. you just slice it lengthwise and put it on the clutch cable)
-and K&N is testing the prototype FIPK on a efw SVTF's.
I would consider buying one because:
-everyone says they sound really cool
-cool air in the summer, everyone says our engines hate the heat
-the blue matches my interior
-3hp across the board and about 5 at peak.
Skatepunk, the link you made doesn't work for me.

The price is high is you dont look around. My local speed shop wanted 300 dollars for an AEM CAI. And I know these guys. I said f you.
I looked around for 7 days, and I got it for 200 bux (shipping included). Had to wait about 4/5 days I think, but I saved 100 dollars.
Although, 200 bux is still somewhat steep, it worth it as far as craftsmanship. The AEM is a well put together CAI, and I have no complaints other than that I do worry soemtimes about it getting wet. But it was MY choice to leave it on in the winter, cuz I'm too lazy to redo it I guess. I don't drive all day and night, and unless I drive into a tsunami, and completely submerge the front end of my car into the water, the CAI is not going to "suck up" water into the motor. The K&N filter does an excellent job of wicking water away from the inside of it, and that has been proven time and time again. That is what it is made for. I will undoubtedly clean my CAI sometime soon, and again in late Spring. That includes not only cleaning the filterand re-oiling it, but also removing the tubing and running a rag through the tubes a few times.
I think it is well worth the cash, considering the looks I get when I'm putting it in first with the clutch in and I rev it once. The sucking sound makes people think I have some sort of forced air under the hood. I mean, I guess thats what they think, but they ALWAYS look nonthelesss. And plus the roaring sound I get at the end of each gear and at WOT. There is definitely a performance gain also, but thats been shown.
As far as the oil leaking goes, thats the first I've heard of that.
AS much as I love my AEM CAI, honestly, I hope everyone DOESN'T get one. Just because I dont want everyone to have what I have. LOL. HAHA
