Hi guys, im trying to pick a truck to buy, as you probably guessed from the title. I've read up and know a little bit about the Gen 2's, but its mostly the Gen 1 I need information on.

I would like to know what I can do to make the Gen 1 a little bit faster, Im planning on a super charger, cool air intake, a chip, and exuast (for sound mostly) So I think that should get me up to around 350 ish HP right?

The other question I have about Gen 1's is, From what I've seen in pictures, the interior, is not that appealing to me. The seats are not attractive to me, I was wondering if they were at least confertable. And if I find there not, or there to ugly... :o ...If I can take them out and put new ones in? If I were to put a new one in, I think I would go for a really retro looking strait bench, like the older model F150's from the 60's and what not, if that were possible. And installing a new radio wouldn't be a problem, and I can dress the dash up I guess. Any other seat idea's besides seat covers from okole? I think the company is, I've seen them and Im not a big fan of them.

I would also like to know what both trucks are getting for gas milage. I've heard 14/17 conservativly driving for the Gen 2, How about the 1?

The Last question about the Gen 1, also applys to the Gen 2. I've heard the breaks on the Gen 2 were horrible. I was wondering if this was true, and how are the breaks on the Gen 1?

And the other thing that makes me want the Gen 1, is I'll be able to get it really soon, and be done paying it off very soon. This will be my first car im sorry to admit to everyone, I will be paying for it though, I dont want my parents to buy my car for me. And I would really like it, if you didn't tell me to go buy a civic or focus or whatever, becuase I honestly dont drive like an ass, and I'll only open up on a track, and the only cars I've used sinse I started driving are SUV's and Vans, so I can handle the size too, So please no flaming of me.

I guess if I have anymore sporadic questions, and I will dont worry, I'll come back. :tmb:

Thanks alot,
Sean

Where to start?

My gen 1 did 14.397@95.19 around 2200ft elevation with only a vortech a-trim supercharger, a superchip and a cat-back system on street tires with no traction issues. (They start around the high 13's) I bought it with these mods for $9000.

As for the seats, everybody that sits in my truck says the same thing, "These seats are awesome". They have side bolsters that are air operated by the same pump that the power lumbar runs on. The gen 2 has a manually adjusted lumbar support but the side bolsters are fixed. Therefore the gen 1 seats hug you tighter. Also, the front of the seat pulls out to tuck behind your knees for additional support but personally I never use it. Also, the gen 1 has "Lightning" beautifully stitched in the seatback and it would be a shame to put a seat cover over it.

The gen 2's have more legroom,I'm 6' tall and I can't fully stretch out my legs in my gen 1. I never plan on taking it for a road trip though so that doesn't bother me.

The general consensus seems to be that the gen 2's are more refined with a smoother ride and that the gen 1's are more like a muscle car and supposedly handle better.

Ford's 60-0 mph braking # for the gen 1 is 120ft. I don't know how they rate the gen 2.

My window sticker says 12/16 for the gen 1 but I've never tested it.

I was originally looking for a gen 2 when I stumbled upon the National Lightning Owners Club (nloc.net) and saw the gen 1's. I've never looked back.

There are only 2280 of the 95's with the red 95's being the most rare year/color combination at just under 700 produced.

In the end it just comes down to you. Which do you like better?

I totally agree with Kepow. The seats are one of the best parts of the gen1. If you buy a gen 1 and put a vortech s trim on it, you will be leaving stock gen2's. A Gen 1 with 10lbs of boost will run around 375-400hp and high 12's/ low 13's in the 1/4. My 95L will run high 13's NA with current mods.(still using stock injectors and speed density)

I have owned my 93 since it was new, and have gone through 2 Gen 2's. The Gen 1 is a great, raw, reliable vehicle. The seats are very comfortable and supportive and with a few boltons (like a blower) can easily run well into the mid to low 13's and run for 200k miles. The Gen1 is more of the sports car while the Gen 2 is more of the rand Tourer of the famliy.
