Guys, I am looking at a '98 SVT Cobra tomorrow afternoon with the idea of maybe buying it. My question/ concern is that the owner told me that there is something of a procedure for putting the shift lever into reverse (he says it is characteristic of T-45 trannys.) Says that the first step is to depress the clutch, put it into 4th. and (keeping the clutch in) proceed tro put the car in reverse. Is this true and is this a standard thing with this tranny in the Cobras?? Please advise as I really don't want to get stung with problems later on if I do buy it . Thanks so much for your help!!

I have had issues with putting my Cobra in reverse but its not all that bad that I have to do all that.

Sometimes I have to put mine in first and then go into reverse. Depends on if car is parked on level ground or not. Don't really think it's unusual.

as far as i know the reason for needing to do this is that there is no synchro for reverse so by doing this it slows down the input shaft enough to make a smother transition into reverse.
