98 Contour wire problem

We have a 1998 CSVT and have had some work done on it by our Ford dealer who has been great. But this time after having the work done we had alot of problems. Come to find out all the wire looms have biodegaded were the coatings have turned to powder and the bare wires are exposed. I would like to know if anyone has had the same problem and encourage everyone to go check there cars for this problem. This could be very dangerous. Please let me know. Thanks.

I know on the pre-98 cars there was a recall issued on the wiring harnesses for that specific problem. IIRC, it was something about a bad batch of wiring they got. Quite a few cars were affected with that problem; however, its not common for the post-98 cars to have this issue. You may search for the recall, but I think it only covers the 95-97 cars.
